On today’s Captiva fishing charters, Captains Josh and Joey had to deal with a tough day of fishing.

Captain Josh fished the mangroves inshore of Sanibel Island. There his charter caught lots of big sheepshead.

Captain Joey took his charter to the grass bars around Redfish Pass. There his charter caught some ladyfish and some sea trout. Hank, Captain Joey’s dog, spent the day dreaming about the upcoming tarpon season!

The tarpon usually arrive around the end of April and stay till the beginning of June, but their prime season is the middle of May. Tarpon are an amazing fish to catch, and they will give you a fight you will remember for the rest of your life.

They range between 30, to 200 pounds, and they are all a beautiful silver color, giving them the nickname “The Silver Kings.”

Our tarpon charters fill up quickly, so if you want to catch yourself one book your charter sooner rather then later.
