#Captiva: Tuesday, 5/14/13: Sanibel, Captiva & Fort Myers Fishing Report ~ Fort Myers, Sanibel & Captiva: Poor conditions = poor fishing

Sunset over Redfish Pass on Sanibel & Captiva charters!
Sunset over Redfish Pass on Sanibel & Captiva charters!

On today’s charter we spent the whole day fishing for Tarpon to no avail. The reason why the fishing was so bad was because of the wind, and yesterdays cold-front. The wind was blowing hard out of the North East, which around here is the worst possible direction for it to be blowing out of. The cold-front from yesterday left us with high pressure today that prevented the fish from coming to the surface.

Hopefully the conditions will improve latter this week because right now is the prime season for Tarpon fishing, and its a shame the the weather is ruining it.

Please call 239-472-8658 or email captjoefred@gmail to book a Sanibel & Captiva Islands or Fort Myers fishing guide trip – or we can head up to North Captiva or Cayo Costa Islands for a shelling charter!

We’re located at Castaways Marina, Santiva, Sanibel Island, just before the Blind Pass bridge to Captiva Island.

Whether you’re a longtime customer who has fished with us for many years or a first-time customer, expert fisherman or just a family with young children out to catch fish and have fun, you are going to enjoy being out in the boat with Hank and me!  We greatly appreciate your friendship and business!!!

Redfish caught off the Sanibel oyster bar, Sanibel & Captiva Islands & Fort Myers Charters & Fishing Guide Service.

On today’s second charter, we first headed up to Redfish Pass.

There we started to catch the usual Ladyfish, when all of a sudden we started to catch Pompano! They were jumping all around the boat and we must have caught at least 15 fish within 30 minutes!

Pompano are an extremely good eating fish, the only place you can find them around here is in the passes. However they are an extremely elusive fish, you can be catching them left and right one day, and on another you can’t catch a single one.

After we caught out limit of Pompano, we headed on over to the Sanibel oyster bar. There we caught some nice Redfish.

This is also the best time of year for Tarpon, so if you want to catch one let us know when you’re booking a charter, or when you meet me at the dock! Just let me know before we leave the docks so that I can go grab the right rods.
