friends!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>People often ask me for advice how to catch redfish around Sanibel and Captiva &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Redfish were a staple of fishing years ago. \u00a0 Now they&#8217;re tougher to find in the last 3-4 years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_720\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-720\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/captivafishing.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/5-30-11-father-and-redfish-nice-photo.webp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-720\" title=\"Redfish, Captiva.\" src=\"https:\/\/captivafishing.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/5-30-11-father-and-redfish-nice-photo-225x300.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/captivafishing.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/5-30-11-father-and-redfish-nice-photo-225x300.webp 225w, https:\/\/captivafishing.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/5-30-11-father-and-redfish-nice-photo-768x1024.webp 768w, https:\/\/captivafishing.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/5-30-11-father-and-redfish-nice-photo-690x920.webp 690w, https:\/\/captivafishing.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/5-30-11-father-and-redfish-nice-photo-980x1307.webp 980w, https:\/\/captivafishing.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/5-30-11-father-and-redfish-nice-photo.webp 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-720\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nice redfish, Roosevelt Channel.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>If you are looking for redfish, you want to try mangrove shorelines and oyster beds an hour before high tide, the 30 mins during, and an hour after high tide (please see tide info for this coming week listed below).<\/p>\n<p>You can use cut bait, like ladyfish, spanish sardines, or mullet. \u00a0 Live bait also works, such as pilchards, shrimp, and pinfish.<\/p>\n<p>Try to find an area where the wind and tide are moving in the same direction. \u00a0 Fish a spot for 15 minutes, then move down a hundred yards or so. \u00a0 Keep moving until you find fish.<\/p>\n<p>When you find fish, don&#8217;t go back day after day. \u00a0 Keep moving and looking for more spots. \u00a0This will enable you to learn about different places and conditions and develop a portfolio of a variety of fishing holes.<\/p>\n<p>You will find some areas are better on certain winds and tides, and others on slightly different conditions. \u00a0 Always take note of the tie and wind conditions, because fish in the same spot will behave very differently depending on conditions.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_721\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-721\" style=\"width: 263px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/captivafishing.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/5-30-11-Hank-boy-redfish.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-721\" title=\"Redfish\" src=\"https:\/\/captivafishing.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/5-30-11-Hank-boy-redfish-e1306761671983-263x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"263\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-721\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hank, redfish &amp; another friend!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Redfish like water depths of 3 &#8211; 4 feet. \u00a0 If you are trying for redfish at low tide, try the outter edges of large grass flats. \u00a0Look for white sand holes to toss your bait into.<\/p>\n<p>You can also try fishing the inlets with pinfish. \u00a0Inlets are usually best on an outgoing tide.<\/p>\n<p>Other strategies include trying around docks or drifting down shorelines with the current.<\/p>\n<p>Redfish have to be between 18&#8243;
