[File Photo &#8211; March 14, 2014].<\/figcaption><\/figure>&#8220;The\u00a0<b>bull shark<\/b>\u00a0(<i>Carcharhinus leucas<\/i>), also known as the\u00a0<b>Zambezi shark<\/b>\u00a0or, unofficially, as\u00a0<b>Zambi<\/b>\u00a0in Africa and Lake Nicaragua<b> shark<\/b>\u00a0in\u00a0<a title=\"Nicaragua\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nicaragua\">Nicaragua<\/a>, is a\u00a0<a title=\"Requiem shark\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Requiem_shark\">requiem shark<\/a>\u00a0commonly found worldwide in warm, shallow waters along coasts and in rivers. The bull shark is known for its aggressive nature, a predilection for warm shallow water, and presence in\u00a0<a title=\"Brackish water\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brackish_water\">brackish<\/a>\u00a0and freshwater systems including\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Estuaries\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Estuaries\">estuaries<\/a>\u00a0and rivers.<\/p>\n<p>Bull sharks can thrive in both salt and freshwater and can travel far up rivers. They have been known to travel up the\u00a0<a title=\"Mississippi River\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mississippi_River\">Mississippi River<\/a>\u00a0as far as\u00a0<a title=\"Alton, Illinois\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alton,_Illinois\">Alton, Illinois<\/a>,<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bull_shark#cite_note-2\">[2]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0although few freshwater human-shark interactions have been recorded. The fishing is also renowned with sharks in the summer, tailing redfish on the bayside flats and snook under and off the Blind Pass bridge.
