Sunday, January 22, 2012 ~ coming week will be beautiful for Captiva & Sanibel Island fishing charters – highs expected in the low 80s

Hank at sunset on the beach after a hard day of fishing. May, 2011.

Things are still quiet down here.

We’re still in the lull before things start picking up in February, building into the spring break pace of March and April and then spilling into tarpon season in May and June.

However, the weather this week is going to be spectacular for January – clear and sunny with highs reaching the low 80s.

Redfish have been biting well on shrimp.

So if you can come down this week, we have terrific weather for you and lot of warmth hospitality, and good conversation and fishing in the flats, bay and inlets around Captiva & Sanibel.

Come on down!  Let’s go fishing!

Fair winds and following seas,

Thursday, January 19, 2012 ~ weather is nice …. Captiva Island temperatures in the 70s

Chicago Charlie with bunny ears and a ladyfish!

Charlie & Tim, my buddies in Chicago, are dealing with single digit temperatures and another snow storm on the way, but we’re having a very good mid-January on Captiva with temperatures in the 70s.

Charlie and Tim need to come on down and do some red fishin’!

The reds are biting!

Saturday, January 14, 2012 – Captiva Island … very cold morning but very good red fishing

Redfish, Captiva, Florida.
Redfish, January 14, Captiva.

It was a very cold Saturday morning with a stiff north wind, but the red fish were biting real well.

We managed to boat over 15 redfish with several being nice keepers.

Most of the redfish were around Captiva & shrimp was the bait of choice.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 … sheepshead, trout & redfish are biting

Redfish & Hank

The red fish are biting real well on the north end of Sanibel & the north end of Captiva.

Sheephead & trout are also biting well around the inlets of Sanibel & Captiva.

The weather has been really nice on the island; great for charter fishing.
