Tuesday, November 22, 2011 … it has been a slow fall but Thanksgiving week has been good … lot’s of mackerel in frenzied feeding in the bait balls off Captiva

Charlie & Pelican off Captiva ... both came out unscathed.

After a very quiet and slow fall, we’re having a lot of fun this week!

Great day of fishing yesterday off Sanibel & Captiva on the gulf side.

Mackerel are very thick feeding on glass minnow bait balls; you can literally catch as many as you like if you have the right lures.

We were using spoons.

We caught our limit and then focused on catching and releasing some black tip sharks that were also mixed in the fray.

We saw a five foot spinner shark jump, but we couldn’t hook him.

Went and looked for a big bull shark in the bay, but came up empty.

Going out again tomorrow and also Thanksgiving morning.

The weather has been terrific this week!

Fair winds and following seas,
